The U.S. Postal Service has the statutory duty to “provide postal services to bind the nation together through the personal and business correspondence of the people.” The Postal Service has met that mission by focusing on the collection, transportation, and delivery of paper mail and packages. To continue to meet its mission in the context of evolving technologies, the Postal Service must modernize the products and services that it offers.
