Know Your Sources of Electicity Generation
VA Shiva’s student Kylie Kawano presents a Systems Visualization of how much CO2 is released by standard cars vs. electric cars and by the generating sources that produce the required electricity.
My student, Kylie Kawano, presents an impressive Systems Visualization of how much carbon dioxide (CO2) is released into the environment by electric cars when compared to standard cars with internal combustion engines. She finds that there is not much difference when you factor in the amount of CO2 produced during the generation of the electricity used by the electric car. She says that awareness of the sources of electricity generation leads to a more practical understanding of CO2 emissions.
