The theory that cholesterol is the root cause of heart disease was dead on arrival and was resuscitated by Big Pharma so they could sell statins
The cholesterol hypothesis is that you have cholesterol, which are fats called lipoproteins. These fats clog your arteries and boom, you’re going to get heart disease. The indicators of that are lipoproteins called HDL and LDL.
The theory is that HDL should not go below a certain level and LDL should not go above a certain level. LDL is known as the bad cholesterol.
It was really the medical establishment backed by Harvard in the 60’s and 70’s that started the theory that certain levels of cholesterol would clog your arteries and you would have heart disease.
Before all this theory took hold, people’s total cholesterol levels were over 300 and no one said anything about it.
That entire theory of cholesterol causing heart disease was actually dead on arrival. It was kept alive even though the medical establishment in places like Harvard knew there was evidence of the real root cause.
This was because of homocysteine which occurs during inflammation. High levels of homocysteine were connected to plaques in the arteries.
The notion of fats and high cholesterol in the blood had nothing to do with the causative issues. But the medical establishment didn’t want to go down to the root cause
Kilmer McCully connected high levels of homocysteine to heart disease in 1969
Kilmer McCully was doing some interesting research at Harvard in 1969 with some very young kids. A two month old and an eight year old had clogged arteries, plaques in the arteries.
He connected it to high levels of homocysteine. He unequivocally showed a definitive connection between homocysteine levels related to inflammation, clogging of the arteries and heart disease.
He documented and published this without anyone refuting it.
Kilmer McCully was canceled by the establishment because he found out high levels of homocysteine had a nutritional basis because of deficiencies in B-6, B -12 and folic acid
Suddenly after publication of this finding, the establishment at Harvard Medical School moved him to the basement. They made sure he didn’t get any grant money.
He had to leave there but the establishment made sure he couldn’t get a job for over two years. Kilmer McCully , a Harvard MD, graduated cum laude, was bad mouthed, vilified and sidelined.
He had found out what was the cause of high homocysteine levels. Deficiencies in B- 6, B-12 and folic acid were causing high homocysteine levels.
He was canceled by the establishment because he found a nutritional basis for this condition. The medical establishment didn’t like that because they had already established a theory around optimal levels of HDL’s and LDL’s.
They all basically had a meeting and decided with bare bones evidence what the optimal lipid levels were. Previously peoples’ cholesterol levels were 300, but claiming they had “clinical evidence” they changed it to an upper limit for LDL’s to 130 milligrams per deciliter.
That became the basis for the creation of a class of drugs called statins. Statins actually lower cholesterol by stopping the formation of LDL. This is based on the theory that you have to get your LDL below 130 because that is the cause of heart disease.
Western medicine has created a net of robotic care that does not look at the body as a system
In western conventional medicine, the theory is that cholesterol is the root cause of heart disease. They’ve set a threshold for HDL and LDL levels.
If you go to a doctor, they will look at your LDL level and if it’s too high, they’ll say, “you’ve got a serious problem, you need to start taking a statin.”
There’s a very small subset of MD’s who look at the body as a system and solve problems by finding the root cause of the problem.
Medical training is really about something very simple. They learn how to be a robot and look only at input and output; If you see this, then you do this. “If I see this, then I’ll give you this drug.”
Another aspect of medicine is the collusion with insurance companies, which basically puts golden handcuffs on doctors. That cannot be underestimated.
This is all very unfortunate because what ends up happening is that because they don’t need to solve a problem, most of them don’t know how to solve a problem.
Recent research refutes the cholesterol/heart disease link
An article came out in Scientific American in 2011 titled Cholesterol and Controversy: Past, Present and Future. In it they discuss, “A cholesterol narrative and the uphill battle linking it to cardiovascular risk.”
Scientific American wants to cover their ass, because they know this theory really never held water. In order to maintain their credibility and their lies after the fact, they come later and say, “This may not be true.”
They only do this after they know Big Pharma made tons of money with statins. Do not trust these establishment people because they never say the right thing at the right time.
In the 2011 Scientific American article, there are rumblings that, “Hey, this cholesterol theory may be wrong.”
Another article in 2010 from Japanese Scientists says “High levels of cholesterol are said to be better for longevity.” Men need cholesterol to make testosterone and women have higher levels of homocysteine as they age.
Tomohito Hamazaki, Professor at Toyama University’s Institute of Natural Medicine was quoted, “When examining all causes of death, such as cancer, pneumonia and heart disease, the number of deaths attributable to LDL cholesterol levels exceeding 140 mg/dl is less than people with lower LDL cholesterol levels.”
Hamazaki looked at 26,000 people. The death rate of men whose LDL cholesterol levels were between 100 and 160 was low.
The death rate of those with LDL cholesterol levels below 100 was higher. More people died in the group who had lower LDL levels.
Another study of 16,050 people who suffered cerebral stroke showed the death rate of people with hyperlipidemia, (high LDL), that died from cerebral stroke was lower and their symptoms more slight.
Hamazaki stated,” Cholesterol is an essential component for the creation of cell membranes and hormones. It is not recommended to lower LDL figures by means of dietary intake and medication.”
In addition Hiroyuki Tanaka, director of Niko Clinic in Takeo, Saga Prefecture stated, “When women reach menopause, their cholesterol figures rise sharply, yet do not affect the arteriosclerosis process or development of heart disease. At the very least, cholesterol criteria are not necessary for women.”
So for women, homocysteine levels go up and they can modulate it with B vitamins.
The science was there, as early as 1969, that cholesterol was not the cause of heart disease. But the medical establishment pushed it through to sell Lipitor and statins.
Pfizer was making $12 Million a year on Lipitor before it became generic which now generates $2 million a year
The medical, Big Pharma, Big Academia establishment at Harvard silenced McCully to sell Lipitor, by Pfizer, which has made them billions of dollars.
This is where you can connect the dots if you take a systems approach. Lipitor sales were in the range of $12 million a year for Pfizer.
The patent life is 20 years. In 2013 Lipitor became a generic so they have only been making about $2 million a year on Lipitor sales.
Imagine if they could force people to take statins and Lipitor, like they tried to do the vaccine mandate, because it’s a public health risk.
You get an idea of where all of this is going when you look at the recommendations that came from the US Preventive Task Force on August 23, 2022. They’re saying people ages 40 to 70 who are at increased risk, but not at higher risk should be taking a statin.
They are teeing up the public to take statins when they’re older to prevent heart attacks.
In The Times there is an article which says, “Elderly urged to take statins for life or risk losing health benefits.” “Coming off drugs increases risk of heart disease, study finds.”
So think about what they’re doing. When it was a brand drug by Pfizer, it was making them $12 million a year. Now they’re making $2 million.
So now they essentially want to mandate its use. Imagine if you’re over 70 and they tell you in order to have health insurance, you have to take statins. If you don’t take them they’re going to take away your health insurance.
A study of System Science will make you understand how the suppression of freedom and discourse leads to bogus science and health
We know in 1969 a paper was published at Harvard Medical School clearly showing homocysteine levels had a direct link to heart disease. The medical establishment snuffed it out, ignored it.
It’s not like they were ignorant, they actually knew it. They promoted a bogus thesis, which did not have much evidence.
Using that bogus theory that you have to have lower cholesterol, they started using symptomatic science, not root cause science. This is not system science, it is reductionist science.
A systems approach to science compared to a reductionist approach looks at the real cause of a problem. A reductionist approach looks at epiphenomenon which is a bogus cause.
So the establishment came up with a bogus solution; a fake solution to a fake problem. They squashed McCully’s research and elevated the cholesterol model knowing that homocysteine levels could be lowered by vitamins B-6, B-12 and folic acid.
Those deficiencies cause high homocysteine levels, which are directly related to clogged arteries.
You see the economics here, which violate your freedom, which are based on bogus science, which ultimately affect your health. So you have suppression of freedom.
You have suppressed real science, and this affects your health. We know that there is a direct correlation between homocysteine levels and inflammation and arterial sclerosis.
We know that can be addressed with the use of B vitamins. What we’ve done here is take a systems approach.
We looked at what happened historically with the suppression of science, the attack on freedom, a guy getting canceled and how that was used to promote a fake science to suppress the real science.
That’s led to an attack on health. The Japanese studies are saying that people with high LDL are fine but more people with low LDL are the ones who are dying.
Using system science you’ll understand there was a fundamental suppression of discourse when the original homocysteine theory was canceled. That affected the science because the bogus cholesterol theory was really dead on arrival.
In summary, the original thesis was that high homocysteine levels are actually the cause of arteriosclerosis and plaque and hardening of the arteries.
Homocysteine levels can be lowered by B-6, B-12 and folic acid. That theory was shoved under, and what was elevated was an epiphenomenon theory of cholesterol.
That led to a bogus fake science, which led to a fake solution, which is to take statins.
People have known that the cholesterol hypothesis is seriously flawed since 2011. Because the data shows more people die with low levels of LDL than people with high levels.
