The Ahuja Foundation, in association with the National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (NIAM), is organizing a debate titled ‘Is GMO Good for India’ on August 27, 2015 at the NIAM building in Jaipur.
The debate is hosted by Dr. Hema Yadav, Deputy Director, NIAM, and the debate will be moderated by Dr. V.A. Shiva Ayyadurai, the Inventor of Email, MIT-trained systems biologist and Fulbright scholar, who has recently published four scientific papers revealing accumulation of formaldehyde, a known carcinogen, in genetically modified soy (GMO Soy). Participants will debate on concerns raised over the use of genetically modified organisms, their impact on the environment and on economic development in India, and on the relationship between farmers, businesses and NGO’s. Lalit Ahuja is the Trustee of The Ahuja Foundation, that strives towards enabling sustainable development and providing healthcare and education opportunities to the socially deprived sections of the society.
