Innovation Corps – Innovation Any Time, Any Place, by Anybody
Throughout history, there has been an effort to dismiss the fact that innovation can take place at any time, in any place, by anybody. There has been a systematic effort to ensure that innovation be monopolized by those with power – power which, incidentally, is substantially a public gift. Innovation by others has always been undermined by vague reasoning and the parroting of fallacies as truth.
At ICIS, we would like to foster an atmosphere where true innovation flourishes – regardless of who is behind it. To this end, ICIS announced on August 30, 2012, 30th Anniversary of Email, the Inner City Innovation fund, a program for high school students of Newark, New Jersey, to enable them to translate a tangible business idea into a startup venture. As part of this program, two teams of high school students will receive grant consisting of cash and services of up to $100,000. This program is sponsored by General Interactive, Inc., among others.
